your pets health matters

Vaccines required for stay

First, we look forward to your pet's stay, but let's talk about the ugly truth of boarding/daycares. Virus and illness. To ensure that our pets are as protected as we can control, we require full vaccines on any dog coming to our facility. This would include D2APP, Rabies and Kennel Cough (Bordetella), in addition, your pet must be on monthly flea preventative and be parasite free.

*Vaccines must have been administered no less than 2 weeks prior to your check in date with us for maximum effectiveness.

*Bring your shot record with you at check in

*We do not accept self administered vaccines as proof of vaccinations, Rabies vaccines can only be given by a vet.

For questions about your pet's medical records contact your vet for advice as to whether or not updates or boosters are needed before your stay!

I've buit this business based on my love of dogs, I will put your pets health and safety as my #1 priority during its stay with us!   - Tara Ritchie, Owner

CANINE cOUGH AKA BORDETELLA

Bordetalla Virus, also called Kennel Cough, is an airborne viral illness similar to human flu that is passed between dogs through air, saliva, nose sniffing and playing. It usually last 10 days but sometimes requires antibiotics and cough medication. Just like the flu vaccine, new strands emerge yearly and the vaccine only protects against previous strands, meaning, your vaccinated pet can still catch a new strand. It is most dangerous to puppies, seniors and dogs with low immune systems or underlying health issues. It is our goal to prevent any outbreak of illness and we are trained to watch for signs and isolate and have your pet picked up if any signs of sickenss are observed. Here are some of the steps we take in an effort to protect our guests, and maintain high standards of cleanliness to slow the spread and prevent this virus in our facility:

Drug and Syringe

Vaccinations

we require all guest to have a current Bordetella Vaccine, we reccommend it be repeated every 6 months for max benefit

Sanitization Practices

Our guest do not share bowls with any other guest, we do not share toys and each guest has their own private suites for sleep. Suites are stripped and cleaned daily with vet grade cleansers and are deep cleaned at checkout of the pet. Weekly deep clean of the entire room including washing the walls. All bowls are washed and sanitized, blankets are washed daily.

Air Quality

Fresh air is the best deterrant. In every room we open windows all day. we use hepa filtration systems and air purifiers. The best prevention practice is fresh air, all pets are rotated inside/outside every hour and we spend more time out than in! Our outdoor playground is where we are most of the time.

Creative Meeting

Trained Staff

Our staff are continually trained on safety, sanitization and medical care. We constantly check on the health/well being of your pet during its stay, we log feeding, elimination, medical notes am and pm daily. If we feel that a guest isn't feeling well, you will be notified and the pet will be isolated and cared for, while waiting on pickup.

Keeping you informed

At Waggin Tails, we pride ourselves in our relationship with our customers. Keeping you informed every step of the way is one practice we use to keep lines of communication open. If you see any signs of sickeness in your pet prior to arrival, give us a call so we can work with you and your vet to make sure we are prioritizing your pets health.

Outdoor areas

lastly, our outdoor areas are scooped after every playgroup. Our playground is treated weekly on Sunday eve with microorganism spray and also a mixture of borax and water solution to ensure that our playyards are as best as they can be. Outdoor climbing toys are washed daily with soap and water.
